Motor Carrier Product Blow-Back Requirements Update
TRANSFLO has updated its requirements for Motor Carriers’ drivers returning product to a railcar, commonly referred to in the transloading industry as “blow-back”. Effective immediately, all drivers MUST notify the TRANSFLO Terminal Manager before any blow-back can begin and complete a Product Blow-Back Approval form.
If the transfer being performed is value service, prior to connecting to the railcar or starting the process, the Motor Carriers’ driver must be re‐verified by TRANSFLO at the railcar, that the blow-back is being performed into the correct car. If the transfer being performed is self-service, it is the responsibility of the Motor Carriers’ driver to verify they are performing the blow-back into the correct car. The approval form is still required prior to performing the blow-back.
Motor Carriers’ drivers who do not follow this procedure will be subject to TRANSFLO’s disciplinary process.
The purpose of this form is to ensure the proper approval and validation of all parties involved with a product blow-back from a trailer into a railcar with the goal to provide the best quality service to our customers. We believe this process enhancement will help both TRANSFLO and Motor Carriers reduce the chances for errors to occur.
