EDI
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is computer-to-computer communication using a Value Added Network (VAN) to send and receive information. EDI is ideal if you already use Oracle or SAP.
With EDI, you send and receive routine business transactions via a secure transmission, in a structured, predetermined format eliminates the need to fax or e-mail documents. EDI:
- Provides a fast, secure electronic exchange.
- Standardizes and automates information exchange, which reduces overhead.
- Eliminates the need to fax documents.
- Reduces the need for data entry, which reduces the chances for errors.
- Improves business capabilities by accelerating throughput.
- Gives automated confirmation of document receipt.
EDI requires a set-up between your computer system and ours. To find out more, or to establish EDI with TRANSFLO, e-mail EDI@TRANSFLO.net.
EDI Transactions Supported by TRANSFLO
EDI 861 – Inventory Receipt (sent to shipper). Once a rail car is placed in a TRANSLFO terminal, an Inventory Receipt message is sent to the shipper, notifying the shipper that product is ready to be transferred.
EDI 940 – Warehouse Shipping Order (received from shipper). This is the transfer order from the shipper for product contained in a rail car to be transferred to the consignee.
EDI 997 – Functional Acknowledgment (sent to shipper). When TRANSFLO receives a message from a shipper, a Functional Acknowledgment is sent back to the shipper via GENTRAN. Acknowledges that CSX has received a transmitted message.
EDI 945 – Warehouse Shipping Advice (sent to shipper). Once a transfer order is filled at a TRANSFLO terminal, an Order Advise message is transmitted to the shipper indicating that the order has been filled.
EDI 947 – Inventory Adjustment (sent to shipper). If an inventory adjustment is made to a rail car, an Inventory Adjustment message is sent to the shipper indicating the difference in quantity for that rail car.
